Paper Digging

This program can be used to search various words for their co-occurence in in the main text body of publications.
You can use this to find rare occurences of scientific connections in the literature or if you want to gather information which are not obvious from paper title or abstract.

You can also use this program to find citations of specific topics.
Just insert your words of interest (up to 6, separated by space) and the program will digest through the literature to get you a list of papers, where all the words are mentioned.
The best part: It is free for academic users.

DISCLAIMER:()
Right now, this program will only use open-source articles from PubMed Central (PMC). Other articles might be included in the future.
Bioinformatics.Expert UG is not responsible for any texts, which appear in the resullts. They depend on the queried words and are identified with an algorithm in the PMC-article.

For this reason Bioinformatics.Expert UG cannot be made liable for any outcome created by this program.
This means: Please handle this program with care and check the results by verifying the texts in the found publications

Terms and Conditions:()
This program allows users to search for the co-occurrence of various words within the main text body of publications.

To date, these publications encompass approximately 4 million articles that are designated as open-source and available for commercial use by the PubMed Central database from the National Institutes of Health. This may change in the future if applicable.

Users can enter up to 6 words into textboxes and select options to specify how these words should be searched by the program. Note that the program does not differentiate between upper and lower case letters. The options available are:
"Exact match": The program searches for the exact word in the publications (e.g., "cancer").
"Also match plural words": The program also searches for the plural form of the word by adding an "s" (e.g., "cancers"; currently, irregular plural forms like "mice" are not detected).
"Allow word prefixes": The program searches for the word with additional letters in front of it (e.g., "skin-cancer").
"Allow word suffixes": The program searches for the word with additional letters following it (e.g., "cancerous").
"Arbitrary match": The program searches for the word with additional letters both in front and behind it (e.g., "skin-cancerous").
Options 2, 3, 4, and 5 are only available to subscribed users or users prioviding an academic email address during registration (see below).

Upon pressing "Start Digest", the job is queued on the server and executed when resources are available. If the user does not wish to wait, they can provide an email address and leave. Once the analysis is complete, the user will receive a notification.

After the analysis is finished, a list of PMC IDs is provided, indicating where all words are found. This list is sorted by the minimum number of sentences(1) required to display every word. For the top publication, the relevant text passage is shown with the queried words highlighted. Other publications can be accessed by clicking on the PMC ID, a feature available only to subscribed users.

As described, certain features are accessible only to academic users or subscribers. A monthly or yearly subscription can be purchased for 9.99 EUR or 59.99 EUR respectively after registering and logging in to this site. Alternatively, there are b2b-offers for multiple subscriptions upon request.

(1) Sentences are constructs originally defined by an algorithm. Thus, in some cases, the sentences defined here may not correspond to actual sentences.
